A tribute to the Sine Curve 1967. Poetry in glass, the Sinus lamp was originally designed in 1967 and attempted to be made in plastic. But Piet Hein himself was not satisfied with the result until he saw it in glass. The floating shapes of the Sinus lamp epitomize the clean, Scandinavian lines that we know from the golden age of design. The sine curve was chosen as inspiration because it is a mathematically harmonious shape, but also because it is technically ideal for lighting. The lamp’s curved shapes ensure that the light is strong on exactly what needs to be illuminated, while the light towards the eye and the surrounding space is glare-free and exceptionally beautiful.
