Architect Alvar Aalto combined organic design with a craftsperson’s expertise to create iconic pieces for home decor. Architect Alvar Aalto designed the Aalto collection in 1936. It won gold at the Karhula Iittala glass competition, making them the entry work to the Paris World Fair in 1937. Today, Aalto is a globally recognised symbol of modern Scandinavian design, and the items are true masterpieces of craftsmanship. Each Aalto bowl is mouthblown, hand cut and then polished several times at the Iittala Glass Factory in Finland. The Aalto 262x50mm bowl follows the original shape from the 1930s in multifunctional bowl size to suit today’s needs.
